SWE: Women in Leadership: An Entrepreneur Story

Chat with our guest speaker Afsoon Soudi, Ph.D., Senior Manager – Data Science and Machine Intelligence at CBC, Co-founder and former VP R&D at IRYStec, and hear about her journey of being an entrepreneur in tech and a woman at the table.
About the Speaker:
Afsoon Soudi has a PhD in Physics from Washington State University and currently leading machine learning developers and data scientists at CBC to develop data-driven systems for CBC contents. Afsoon co-founded an award-winning software company, IRYStec, recently acquired by Faurencia.
As a tech entrepreneur at IRYStec, she led a multidisciplinary team of researchers and developers on technology and product development. As an executive with significant experience in team building, leadership, and people development, she empowers teams to make good decisions, build alignments, and elevate engagement with her technology vision across a team and an organization.
Afsoon is very passionate about empowering women, specifically in science and technology. She volunteers her time for mentoring founders and individuals in their growth. Serving on SWE Toronto board as the Director of Industry Outreach she empowers more women engineers and other STEM professionals in Toronto and connects industry partners in the region to this great organization. She would like to create more leadership opportunities for women and move one step closer to creating diversity and equity for women in the workforce.
