The ECS Student Chapter at the University of Toronto officially launched with a hybrid kick-off meeting on Thursday, April 2, in the Wallberg Building. The event welcomed 27 participants from five departments: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and Physics and Environmental Sciences. Attendees learned about the ECS’s global impact and were introduced to the chapter’s new executive committee.

Professor Donald Kirk, one of the chapter’s faculty advisors, delivered a featured talk on the professional value of the society. He highlighted key resources for faculty and student members, including Interface magazine, bi-annual international meetings, and various funding and professional development opportunities offered by the ECS.
