Graduate Recruitment Day 2026

On Friday, February 20, the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry welcomed nine prospective students to campus for Graduate Recruitment Day (GRD), an annual event designed to introduce visitors to the department and inspire them to consider joining our graduate programs.

The day offered a mix of structured and informal activities aimed at providing a firsthand experience of life in the department. Participants attended discussions with faculty on research areas and supervision opportunities, explored student-led poster sessions showcasing ongoing research and participated in one-on-one interviews with faculty to discuss their academic interests and potential research paths. Guided tours of laboratory spaces allowed visitors to see the collaborative environments and state-of-the-art facilities that support research and innovation.

Department Chair Ramin Farnood welcomed participants and emphasized the value of personal engagement: “It was a pleasure to meet prospective students and hear about their interests and aspirations. Events like this allow visitors to envision themselves as part of our academic community and see the possibilities available in our graduate programs.”

Students attend the poster sessions in GB-202 during GRD 2026.

Visitors described the day as both informative and welcoming, providing a clear sense of the academic opportunities, research environment and community they could join. The department looks forward to continuing these conversations and hopes to see many of the participants return to study here in the fall.

The department extends sincere thanks to the faculty who participated, the student volunteers who supported the day’s activities, the staff and students at BioZone for providing laboratory tours and the Graduate Studies and Communications offices for their assistance in planning and delivering a successful Graduate Recruitment Day.
