We are thrilled to share that Professor Emeritus Levente Diosady has been named the 2025 recipient of the Nicolas Appert Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). This distinguished award recognizes individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to the science of food through research, education, and outreach.
The Nicolas Appert Award is one of IFT’s highest honors, celebrating pioneers whose work has advanced the field of food technology and left a meaningful impact on global food systems. Diosady’s career is a powerful reflection of this mission, marked by decades of innovative research, a deep commitment to improving food security, and a legacy of mentorship and knowledge sharing.
Internationally recognized for his contributions to food engineering and micronutrient fortification, Diosady has played a central role in developing sustainable solutions that improve the nutritional quality of food, particularly in low-resource settings. His work has helped shape policies and programs that bring fortified foods to vulnerable populations around the world.
In addition to his scientific and engineering achievements, Diosady has been a dedicated educator and mentor, influencing generations of students and researchers in food science and chemical engineering.
He will be formally presented with the Nicolas Appert Award on July 13, 2025, at the IFT Annual Event in Chicago.
