Professor Mohamad Moosavi Appointed as Faculty Member at the Vector Institute

The Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry is pleased to announce that Professor Mohamad Moosavi has been appointed as a Faculty Member at the Vector Institute, a leading centre for artificial intelligence research and innovation in Canada. This prestigious appointment recognizes Moosavi’s outstanding contributions to the integration of AI, chemical engineering, and materials science.

At the Vector Institute, Moosavi will pursue research aimed at advancing AI for the science and engineering of materials and chemicals. He will collaborate with distinguished colleagues, including Professors Alán Aspuru-Guzik and Anatole von Lilienfeld, to drive innovation at the intersection of machine learning and molecular design. In his announcement, Moosavi noted that he is “thrilled and honoured” to join Vector’s faculty, emphasizing his enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to Canada’s growing AI ecosystem.

This appointment is part of Vector’s recent faculty expansion, which saw 13 researchers transition to full Faculty Member status—bringing the Institute’s faculty to 55 members. The expansion reflects Vector’s commitment to fostering research excellence and developing AI solutions with real-world impact.

The department extends its warmest congratulations to Moosavi on this achievement and looks forward to his continued leadership and contributions to both the University of Toronto and the broader field of AI research.
