On March 9, 2025, the University of Toronto Chemical Vehicle (UTCV) team demonstrated outstanding skill and innovation at the AIChE Eckhardt Northeast Student Regional Conference hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
The team achieved remarkable success by securing 2nd place honors in both the poster presentation and the Chem-E-Car performance categories. This accomplishment underscores their commitment, technical proficiency, and inventive problem-solving abilities.
In the poster competition, each team showcased their car designs, judged on criteria such as presentation quality, adherence to safety standards, creativity, and innovation. Industry and academic experts posed rigorous questions to ensure comprehensive design considerations including safety controls, emergency scenarios, and environmental impact management.
With this strong performance, the UTCV team has earned a coveted opportunity to compete at the AIChE Annual Meeting in November, where they will face top universities on a global stage, further demonstrating their expertise in chemical engineering innovation.
