Volunteering for GRD and IOH

The main events for Graduate Research Days (GRD) and Industry Open House (IOH) will be taking place on Friday, February 19. The events run concurrently. Download the event schedule

We are currently looking for grad students to help us out with the following:

  • Coat check: Looking for 4-6 volunteers to cover coat-check shifts in Hart House between 8:30am to around 1pm. Note: Grad students manning poster boards during the poster session should not apply for this.
  • Guiding students to WB and monitoring floors: Looking for 5 volunteers to guide our prospective students from Hart House to WB at around 12:30pm. Each volunteer will be assigned one floor in WB to monitor while prospective students go on interviews and self-guided tours (in case prospective students get lost and need guidance). One volunteer will be placed in the Grad Common Room to keep the room open for our prospective students as a place to rest. Shift will last from 12:30pm to about 5pm. Note: Grad students assigned to participate as lab representatives by their supervisors should not apply for this.
  • Monitoring floors in CCBR: We will need about 2 volunteers familiar with CCBR-lab locations to act as floor monitors in CCBR between 3:45pm and 5pm (in case prospective students get lost and need guidance). Note: Grad students assigned to participate as lab representatives by their supervisors should not apply for this.
  • Chaperoning an industry guest on a personal tour: We need about 10-15 volunteers to take industry guests who’d like to see specific labs on a personal tour. Volunteers will be given a short script for labs available on the tour but will not be expected to provide specific details about the lab, as their will be reps in the labs. Personal tours will run from 1pm to about 2pm and will start from Hart House. Note: Grad students assigned to participate as lab representatives by their supervisors should not apply for this.
