Chem Club
Chem Club is the go-to resource for all your chemical engineering student needs. Often voted “Best Student Club” by the U of T Engineering Society, Chem Club organize barbecues, book exchanges, an annual Dinner Dance, a talent show and other charity initiatives. Sporting events traditionally include soccer and basketball tournaments, with more to come. Chem Club also provides course packs, chem patches for Skule™ leather jackets and the always-popular Chem Club t-shirts.
Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE)
CSChE is a national, not-for-profit technical association that unites chemical engineering professionals who work in industry, academia and the government. Each year, the U of T Student Chapter of CSChE organizes a wide diversity of events and programs to help prepare chemical engineering students socially, academically and professionally.
For professional development, the society offers networking events like the annual CSChE Conference where students, professors and engineers in the industry exchange valuable knowledge on current chemical engineering topics. Career enhancement services are also offered through the Chemical Engineering Sector Information Night where chemical engineers from different fields speak about their career paths as they relate to chemical engineering.
In addition, the chapter has first year and alumni mentorship programs to help the students through their time at the University and transition into the industry following graduation. CSChE also runs an online PEY Co-op database that collects first-hand feedback and advice on the variety of PEY Co-op opportunities chemical engineering students have had.

University of Toronto Chemical Vehicles (UTCV)
In pursuit of a true multidisciplinary, hands-on experience, undergraduate chemical engineering students founded the University of Toronto Chemical Vehicles Design Team (formerly ChemE Car). The team’s primary focus is to research, design, build, integrate and optimize different systems to create a small, autonomous, chemically powered car every year. If you are interested in working in a safe laboratory environment, learning about innovative electrochemistry and reaction kinetics, building cars, or even working behind the scenes to manage resources, logistics and plan events, then UTCV is the team to join.

Co-Curricular Record
By getting involved, you’ll meet friends, have fun and develop skills that will help you in whatever career you choose. The new Co-Curricular Record can help you find opportunities, and more importantly, understand the skills and abilities that you’ve acquired just by doing what you love. Even better, it will all be recorded on an official U of T document that recognizes how awesome you are!
Several of our student groups are already on the CCR, and you can gain recognition just by participating! If you’re interested in getting your own student group recognized, keep your eyes peeled for announcements in early September!
Student Services in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
The Faculty provides a variety of services and support, including Math Aid, a Communications program, the Entrepreneurship Hatchery, Engineering Society and the Engineering Career Centre to name a few.
Student Club Funding
The Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry supports a number of student groups whose work directly benefits ChemE students. If you have a student club or initiative that requires funding, you must apply through the Faculty’s Centralized Process for Student Initiative Funding website. The CPSIF application process for 2023-24 will open on August 21.
If you are applying for funding from our Department, please note that our funding priority is given to student clubs/activities with large membership from Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry (ChemE). Faculty-wide student club/activity applications (e.g., FSAE, Blue Sky Solar Racing Team) must provide valid documentation showing participation of ChemE students, particularly at the executive level.
