Academia
The MEng is traditionally being a professional degree, however, some of our students pursue a MEng Project and during that time, they discover the challenging and rewarding opportunities for academic research. During this path, and through discussions with their supervisor, they continue their education at the doctorate level in pursuit of a PhD.
A PhD can lead to many potential career paths utilizing their exceptional research skills.
Many PhD graduates opt to undertake postdoctoral positions to gain further research experience and expertise. As postdocs, they work closely with established researchers, contribute to ongoing projects, and potentially develop their own research ideas.
With a PhD in Chemical Engineering, students can work as research scientists in academic or industrial settings. They can lead independent research projects, secure funding, supervise graduate students, and publish scientific papers.
After completing their PhD, students can pursue careers as university lecturers or professors. They would be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting independent research, and publishing their findings.
