Dear ChemE students, faculty and staff:
I’m pleased to welcome you to the start of the 2022-23 academic year at the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry. I hope your semester is off to a great start.
To our new students, I congratulate you on your decision to pursue a degree with us. Advances in science and technology, as well as educating future leaders have never been so important as it is now. Chemical engineers are expected to lead the development and implementation of solutions to many of global challenges that we are facing today and to create a more sustainable future. Your choice to study with us is a clear representation of what you believe to be important.
As the top chemical engineering department in Canada and one of the finest in the world, we remain committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for our students and an exceptional working environment for our staff and faculty. To help our students, as they transition to more in-person courses and activities, ChemE staff are now fully working from campus. Students are also welcome to meet with me 1-on-1 to share their ideas and feedback.
To our staff and faculty, I want to take the time to thank each of you for demonstrating what it means to be a community over the past few years. Our supportive culture is a key distinguishing characteristic of our department. As ChemE members, we all play a vital role in creating the amazing community that we are proud of. Let’s continue to be there for each other as we embark on this new term.
I wish you all a safe and successful year ahead!
