The CSChE Student Chapter Merit Award is presented annually by the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) to recognize outstanding initiative, leadership and originality in student chapter programming. It celebrates chapters that demonstrate exceptional engagement in professional development, outreach and community building within the field of chemical engineering.
On October 24, 2025, the CSChE Board of Directors recognized the University of Toronto Chapter as one of the top two chapters in Canada with an Honorable Mention for the 2025 CSChE Student Chapter Merit Award. The national award was shared following the CSChE National Conference held earlier in October in Montréal.

This recognition highlights the University of Toronto’s continued excellence and leadership among student chapters across Canada. It reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to empowering students through professional growth, mentorship and collaboration.
Being recognized as one of the top two student chapters nationwide underscores the meaningful impact the team’s initiatives have on both students and the wider chemical engineering community.
The CSChE University of Toronto Student Chapter has now received 10 Merit Award plaques in total, spanning from 2006 to 2025, demonstrating a long-standing tradition of excellence and engagement.

The CSChE University of Toronto Student Chapter is a student-led organization that connects undergraduates with industry professionals, researchers, and peers through conferences, workshops, and networking events. The chapter strives to make chemical engineering accessible and exciting beyond the lecture room, encouraging curiosity, leadership, and collaboration among students.
