During 2020 and 2021, universities across Canada cancelled in-person classes, activities, and convocation ceremonies due to the pandemic.
On December 13, 150 former ChemE students who graduated in 2020 and 2021 will return for their chance to walk across the stage at Convocation Hall. Joining them on this extraordinary occasion is alumnae Laura Burget (ChemE 1T6) who will be offering her congratulations and showcasing the potential success that awaits the classes of 2T0 and 2T1.
Frustrated by expensive skincare and misleading labels, Burget and her friend Connie Lo pooled their savings in 2017 to start Three Ships, a vegan, natural skincare brand. While manufacturing began in Lo’s Toronto apartment, products are now sold in over 700 brick-and-mortar stores, including Target, Whole Foods and Hudson’s Bay. The pair were announced as members of the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Retail and E-Commerce. Burget attributes her fourth-year course, Entrepreneurship and Small Business (APS234), for motivating her to dive deeper into the skincare industry.
