On June 16, the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry proudly celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2T6 & 2T5 + PEY during the University of Toronto’s Spring Convocation ceremonies.
The day began under clear blue skies and bright sunshine as graduating students gathered for the academic procession. By 9:00 a.m., graduates lined up alongside their peers, faculty members and fellow members of the U of T community, preparing for the ceremony that marked the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance and personal growth.

Following Convocation, graduates, their families, friends, faculty and staff gathered for the Department’s annual Convocation Reception. The event provided an opportunity for the ChemEng community to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class while reflecting on the memories, challenges and successes that defined their undergraduate journeys.
A highlight of the reception was the presentation of the Student Catalyst Awards, which recognize students who have made outstanding contributions to student life. This year’s recipients were:
- Amogh Manivannan
- Kenneth Sulimro
- Freddie Perera
- Talia Yawney

The Department also recognized the many achievements of the graduating class and welcomed them into the growing global network of Chemical Engineering alumni.
“Congratulations to the Class of 2T6 & 2T5 + PEY on this remarkable achievement,” said Professor Ramin Farnood, Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry. “Your dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence have brought you to this important milestone. We are proud of all that you have accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the years ahead.”

As our graduates begin the next chapter of their journeys, they carry with them the knowledge, skills and experiences gained during their time at U of T. Whether pursuing careers in industry, research, entrepreneurship, healthcare, sustainability or graduate studies, they are well positioned to address complex challenges and contribute to a better future.
The Department extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2T6 & 2T5 + PEY and wishes them continued success, fulfillment and discovery in the years ahead.
