After presenting at the virtual CSChE Summer Symposium organized by the CSChE U of T student chapter, Saif Rjaibi (ChemE 2T1) and Judy Xia (ChemE 2T2+PEY) have been selected to compete at the 2020 Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference in the Robert G. Auld Student Paper Competition taking place in October 2020.
Rjaibi and Xia’s papers will be based on the research they conducted during their summer with the McGuigan Lab.
Rajaibi’s paper will examine the development of an image analysis workflow to quantitatively validate a 3D adipocyte model by assessing the obesity hallmark of cell hypertrophy. Once validated, this model will serve as a foundation for investigating future therapies to prevent obesity-associated disease.
Xia’s research paper will examine the interactions between pancreatic tumour cells and macrophages to identify therapeutic targets for immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer.
